Know What We do

About us

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Angad Dev Ji (2004) in an innovative way, the Kaar Sewa Khadur Sahib launched the environment conservation drive in 1999 and has been engrossed into various environmental projects till date. Under this drive, different varieties of trees have been planted beside roads, in parks, public places and villages of Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya-Pradesh in allegiance with govt. as well as N.G.O.’s. Especially ‘trio’ of Banyan, Peepal and Neem trees have been planted. Nurseries with modern advanced technology have also been established so as to facilitate the supply of plants. For plantation at road-sides and their maintenance, at least 50 persons and 12 water tanks have been deputed. The gardens keep environment more clean and green in aesthetical manner.

ROAD SIDE PLANTATION

Initiated in 1999.

Green house gas emission

Today, we collectively emit around 50 billion tonnes of CO each year. This is nearly 40% higher than emissions in 1990, which is around 35 billion tonnes.

carbon sequestration BY TREES

Tree sequestes carbon by capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and transforming it into biomass through photosynthesis. Sequestered carbon is then accumulated in the form of biomass, deadwood, litter and in forest soils.

A tree planting campaign dedicated to the 400th centenary of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji to plant trees along the roads was started in the year 1999 . By Oct,2022, 1 lakh 26 thousand trees Inclusive of Pipal, Banyan, Jamun, Chakrasia and various other native trees were planted on the either sides of about 520 km roads in Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Mumbai and other parts of the country.

25000 trees have planted on Mumbai-Puna road ( Four Lane) of 24 Varieties.

MORE THAN 70,000 TREES HAVE BEEN PLANTED IN GWALIOUR, M.P.

FOREST PLANTATION

IN THE FORM OF GURU NANAK MEMORIAL FOREST

NEED OF FORESTS

Forests are vital to life on Earth. They purify the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, prevent erosion, and act as an important buffer against climate change. Forests offer a home to much of the world’s diverse array of plants and animals and provide essential natural resources from timber and food to medicinal plants.

GURU NANAK MEMORIAL DENSE FOREST

In the year 2019, A goal of planting 550 small dense forests dedicated to the birth anniversary of the first Guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was set.

50 Kinds of tree are planted in the Guru Nanak Memorial Forests, namely four main types – Fruit bearing trees, Flower bearing trees, Shade giving and Medicinal trees.

Total 231 Forests have been Planted So far.

Water Conservation

Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful. However, freshwater—the stuff we drink, bathe in, irrigate our farm fields with—is incredibly rare. Only 3% of the world’s water is fresh water, and two-thirds of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for our use.

As a result, some 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to water, and a total of 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one month of the year.

Many of the water systems that keep ecosystems thriving and feed a growing human population have become stressed. Rivers, lakes and aquifers are drying up or becoming too polluted to use. More than half the world’s wetlands have disappeared.

  • At the current consumption rate, this situation will only get worse. By 2025, two-thirds of the world’s population may face water shortages. And ecosystems around the world will suffer even more.

ECO- FRIENDLY BAGS

SAY NO TO PLASTIC BAGS.

The organisation is using  Bags (Eco-Friendly bags) to reduce the use of Plastic Bags. These Bags are very helpful to carry daily need products. Bag Jutes are made up of Fabric extracted from the bark of the white jute plant.

Total 8000 bags have been distributed so far and the project is still going on.

Bag Dimensions-

Height= 36Cm

Length=35cm

Width=11cm

Visitors to the institution are honored with these bags.

Solar Panel Installation

REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT

The term ‘carbon footprint’ is used to account for the release of greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere, courtesy human activities. The major contributor towards carbon footprint is the use of fossil fuels. Solar energy is one of the cleanest alternative forms of energy. For every 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of solar energy produced a meagre 0.5 to 1 ton of carbon dioxide is offset.

Project Description

Environment Conservation

        Under Baba Sewa Singh Ji’s patronage, the Environmental conservation  project was the outcome for celebrating the Quincentenary  Gurpurab of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji uniquely during  1999. Roadside plantations work was undertaken on all the roads leading to Khadur Sahib. A beautiful orchard, Baag Baba Sadhu Singh, has been developed at Khadur Sahib with 36 varieties of fruit trees and large number of Medicinal plants/herbs. The environment conservation drive and other social projects started by Kaar Sewa have been given due recognition at National and International levels. Besides the above,231 mini forests with approximately 1 lac, 30 thousand plants have been planted under this environment conservation project.
